Below we’ve listed some of our frequently asked questions for our accommodation in Avebury, covering everything from amenities in our converted stables to local activities. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss a booking, please get in touch, we’d love to hear from you.
AMENITIES & EQUIPMENT
What do I need to bring for my stay?
Bedroom: All linen and towels are provided.
Bathroom: Toilet paper, body and hand wash are provided, along with a hairdryer. Shampoo and conditioner are not supplied.
Kitchen: Our kitchens are fully equipped and come with all necessary eco-friendly cleaning products. We provide tea, coffee, sugar, rapeseed oil, salt, and pepper. A breakfast starter pack is also included, this contains local milk, butter, apple juice and sourdough.
Is there parking at The Stables?
Yes, each stable has its own designated parking space and there is additional parking close by if required.
Can I charge my electric vehicle?
Yes, we have an EV charger available for use at a rate of 55p per kWh (current pricing for 2023/4, subject to change)
Is there a hot tub?
Hot tub hire is available via our exclusive partner for group bookings of multiple stables. Please contact Flamingo for further information & bookings.
Is there wifi in the stables?
There is wifi, you will be emailed a Welcome Guide after you place your booking which will include your wifi code. Please note there is limited mobile reception at the farm. Vodafone and EE are the best but the rest of the networks are a bit hit and miss so please make sure you have all your directions downloaded before you arrive!
What is there to do on The Farm?
Guests can enjoy seeing animals grazing extensively across the farm in warmer months. During winter, animals can be found in the farmyard. Occasionally, there are piglets and lambs in the spring, and guests can bottle-feed lambs and feed food scraps to the pigs!

Although The Farm at Avebury offers a tranquil base to relax and unwind, there’s also plenty of opportunity to take part in experiences and workshops either at the farm or with one of our neighbours for a day trip. Take a look at our experiences page to find out more.

LOCATION
Is it easy to get to The Farm at Avebury?
The Farm at Avebury is located just outside Marlborough and about 1h 45m from London. It’s easy to get to The Farm via train or car.
By train - We have good train services from Swindon (30 minutes away)
From London you can also use Great Bedwyn (25 minutes) or Pewsey (20 minutes) There is a good onward bus service from Swindon to Avebury and Great Bedwyn to Marlborough.By car - From Marlborough, head west on the A4 for 7 miles, you will pass Silbury Hill on your right. The entrance to The Farm is on your left almost opposite the Silbury Hill car park.
From Calne, once you cross over the Beckhampton roundabout on the A4, the entrance to The Farm is 0.5 miles on your right just before the Silbury Hill car park.
The code for the gate will be shared with you upon booking in your welcome back.
FOOD & DRINK
Is there dining available on site?
Our accommodation offers self-catering with a twist, please see details below.
A breakfast starter pack is included which contains local milk, butter, apple juice and sourdough.
Produce from our working farm and frozen home-cooked meals are available for pre-order, please visit our produce page to find out more.
Each of our stables have a fully-equipped kitchenette with all equipment required to make delicious home-cooked meals.
BBQs are available for alfresco dining (charcoal not provided).
For those who don’t fancy cooking, there is also a local pub within walking distance (The Waggon is closed Monday and Tuesday) and we’ve listed a number of local restaurants which we highly recommend on our activities page.
If you are staying at The Farm for a celebration or event, we would love to discuss catering for you and your guests - please get in touch. We also work with Wild Fork, Vaughn’s Kitchen and other caterers, who can come to The Farm to cook for you in the stables.
Is there a farm shop close by?
We sell a range of fresh meat from our working farm, please see our farm produce page for details.
While there aren't many farm shops in walking distance, the best supermarkets are in Marlborough and Devizes. The nearest farm shops include:

CHILDREN & FAMILIES
Is The Farm at Avebury child-friendly?
Absolutely! The Farm at Avebury is a child-friendly destination, providing a safe and welcoming environment for families to enjoy. We have three daughters of there own, they’ve inspired most of the family-friendly amenities on The Farm!
What amenities are provided for children?
Travel cots with matresses can be provided on request in larger stables (please bring your own bedding).
High chairs, nappy bins, and baby bath on request
Children's plastic plates, cutlery, cups, and beakers
A fully enclosed orchard playground
An agricultural play barn with ride-on toy tractors, bikes, a table tennis table, darts board, cricket games and a bouncy castle (to be used at parents' own risk—please supervise children at all times)
What is there for teenagers to enjoy?
We have a farm barn with table tennis and a darts board, a great place to hide away from parents!
The farm walks are easy for independent walkers to enjoy, whilst not being too far from the stables.
Can we stay in a one bed stable with an infant?
Unfortunately, our one-bed stables are not suitable for infants due to limited space for a travel cot. We also advise against using the ladder while carrying children as it’s quite steep.
GENERAL QUESTIONS
Is The Farm at Avebury dog-friendly?
Yes, The Farm at Avebury is pet-friendly. Guests are welcome to bring their dogs to enjoy the farm stay experience with the entire family, including furry members! Please keep dogs off the furniture and clean up any mess. Please also be aware we are a working farm with lots of animals so dogs should be kept on a lead when walking around the farm.
Is The Farm eco-friendly?
With the help of our solar panels, we produce more energy than we consume; including our home and stables. We also don’t use any fossil fuels for thanks to air source heat pumps. For those using electric cars, we have a charger available further reducing the footprint of our guests.
In The Stables themselves, we have worked to find brands that have a positive sustainability story including Who Gives a Crap for loo roll, Seep for sponges, Ecovers ‘refillution’ and Bramley.
We also sell produce locally and to our guests with our emphasis on better meat, sustainably produced with better welfare.
On The Farm, we are working with The Small Robot Company who are at the forefront of agricultural sustainability. Using AI and robotics, their aim is increasing productivity whilst protecting soil health, water quality and biodiversity. Over the last 10 years, we have planted thousands of trees, totally changing the landscape and habitats on our farm.
Are the stables warm enough in the winter?
The Stables, The Barn and the farm house are all heated using sustainable air-source heat pumps which means there is no oil or gas on site. This system is sustainable and ensures the rooms are kept at perfect temperature throughout!
The Stables are kept extremely cosy through the winter with under-floor heating, warm rain showers and some stables have a bath for those post-winter-walk soaks! You can always let us know if you need the temperature to be extra cosy.
